The original exhibition Fashion&Profession has opened in Prospekt shopping mall, the idea of which is to demonstrate the mutual influence of fashion and profession.
The 10 heroes of the project are teachers, actors, lawyers, athletes, directors who shared their life instructions, life hacks on style and fashion images, as well as recommended their favorite brands.
One of the participants of the exhibition was Oksana Prykhodko, CEO of the Association of Retailers of Ukraine. For Prospekt shopping mall, she talked about who is the inspiration in the profession and why she tries not to wear jeans and oversized clothing too often.
«Being a CEO is more about skills, strategic vision, and management experience than a profession. I never purposefully strived to become a CEO, but conscientiously performed my duties in another position. My perseverance, ability to organize people's work and willingness to take responsibility was noticed by the board of the Association of Retailers of Ukraine and they decided to offer me a promotion to the level of CEO. At first, this offer scared me a little, because I always thought that I would not be able to cope, because managing a company requires a lot of responsibility and constant interaction with people: colleagues, clients, management etc. You have be involved in all the processes of the company as a whole and in the work of individuals. However, this fear disappeared as soon as I took on my new duties. First of all, not everything turned out to be as complicated as it seemed. After all, when you work in a team of professionals, any difficulties are easier to overcome together. Each team member does their part of the work diligently, so from time to time you just need to make control points and not interfere. And the rest of the time is spent on global strategic things.
It's hard to imagine any CEO without stress tolerance and empathy. The first feature is necessary for wise and balanced resolution of non-standard situations that arise in the work, including in interaction with clients. And empathy is needed to feel good about your colleagues. From time to time someone needs to be praised, motivated, encouraged, and someone just need to be directed, controlled.
My mastermind in the profession is my dad. Since childhood, I loved to watch him manage a large enterprise, find a common language with different people, keep a large amount of information in his head and make difficult decisions. Dad works 24/7: there may be calls on weekends, late at night, but he is always on the lookout. He gets up before dawn, solves household chores with my mother, and then, always immaculately dressed and in a good mood, goes to work.
Among foreign managers, I am impressed by Susan Wojcicki, in particular, I admire her career path. Could she have predicted her director's future at Google and YouTube back in 1998, when she rented out her garage to Sergey Brin and Larry Page? In addition, Susan is a mother of 5 children. I like her style, she is always dressed with taste. I really want to meet her and invite her to become a speaker at one of the events held by the Association of Retailers of Ukraine.
For work, I try to choose comfortable and at the same time stylish looks. I usually plan my look in the evening. About 10 minutes and you're done. I always emphasize my outfit with jewelry: it can be both gold and silver products, as well as costume jewelry. I complete the look with perfume. I didn't attach much importance to them before, but over time I realized that they can not only become the main accent in the look, but also create the appropriate mood for the day or evening.
Thanks to the position, my style has become more businesslike. I really fell in love with dresses, there are a lot of them in my wardrobe, because we at the Association of Retailers of Ukraine hold many professional events throughout the year, and I try to look exquisite and stylish during them. And yet, one way or another, clothing affects self-perception. I try to wear such things as jeans and oversized pullovers occasionally, because such clothes are very relaxing for me.
For a photo shoot in Prospekt shopping mall, I chose a basic black skirt, which can be mixed with several top options: a white blouse, a black jacket or a T-shirt with a crimson jacket. So that the look does is not too strict, I like to complement it with jewelry and bright accessories: a bag, handkerchief, bracelet, chain etc.
Since summer is coming soon, I also took a thin dress with a floral print. It can be complemented with soft powder sandals with comfortable heels and a stylish bright purse. And, as I have already mentioned, perfume is a mandatory element of my look. They are usually selected according to the mood, time of day and look. For example, light flying fabrics with a floral print include light floral summer scents.
I follow the Instagram pages of several well-known brands: I like to admire the perfect looks, and they influence the formation of my taste and style. Also, from time to time I conduct an inventory of my wardrobe and understand that some things have already "served their time" and you need to go shopping.
I prefer Ukrainian brands Vovk, Musthave, Andre Tan. Also in my wardrobe there are things from Zara, Mango, H&M, etc. I also have a weakness for luxury branded bags and shoes — Michael Kors, D&G, Prada, etc. And, by the way, the combination of luxury and mass market is very relevant now."
