Is it possible to draw a city and its inhabitants in a few minutes, do subway passengers and sellers on the market like being painted, how is Kyiv’s mood reflected in laconic sketches, and when a picture can reconcile friends?

Prospekt shopping mall invited 13 sketchers on the eve of the Artist's Day to find out how they highlight the key points, and remain free being alone with the city and with themselves. Urban sketching is a world movement of artists who make quick city sketches from nature. This is not an outdated cartoon genre and not a carefully traced portrait or landscape, but sketches that record time and place, telling a story.

“I’ started to draw in the last year. I realized that I wanted to do this and now I try to draw when I have a chance, but t is not easy to find time when one has a child. I am just at the beginning of my journey, I adopt methods of other artists. I want to illustrate books, especially books for children, I work in this direction, I know what I need to do and how to do this.
I often visit Prospekt shopping mall, I like the mall for its brightness and light. Here girlfriends have a good time and my child and I come here for shopping, although we live on the right bank. I choose the locations for sketching by colors and try not to stay long at the same place. Now I am drawing a crossroad with signposts and for some reason I cannot tear myself away from the ceiling - it looks great from the second floor. The escalators are built in interesting; I also like the areas near the children's shops. There are a lot of kids there, but I didn’t have time to draw them yet, because they move fast. I liked a shoe store on the first floor, a perspective is interesting, if you look from the second floor. I spent there a lot of time.”
