Is it possible to draw a city and its inhabitants in a few minutes, do subway passengers and sellers on the market like being painted, how is Kyiv’s mood reflected in laconic sketches, and when a picture can reconcile friends?

Prospekt shopping mall invited 13 sketchers on the eve of the Artist's Day to find out how they highlight the key points, and remain free being alone with the city and with themselves. Urban sketching is a world movement of artists who make quick city sketches from nature. This is not an outdated cartoon genre and not a carefully traced portrait or landscape, but sketches that record time and place, telling a story.

- I took up art seriously when I was a teenager, I made various crafts, which now are called hand-made or crafts: ornaments of wire, a mosaic of broken glass. Once my mother gathered it into a big bag and brought me to children's art school. I went there for two years. When I was at the 11th grade, I saw the exhibition of illustrations “A-BA-BA-HA-LA-MA-HA” and decided that I would enter a faculty of illustrators at the KPI. I entered the evening department, worked as a graphic designer, in the last two years I make illustrations and draw.
If you work, instead of sitting back and doing nothing, waiting for a supercustomer, you can earn by drawing. You need to promote yourself and to read books. I make computer graphics on a by-order basis, and draw with crayons or watercolors for myself. Drawing is an important part of my life, which is both a hobby, and a source of income.
Sketching brings a lot of freedom; everyone draws the way he/she wants. I make drawings with crayons which look like children’s drawings because I like doing this, I like color and I feel happy in these moments. A year ago, I left the office and began to draw outside. I live in the downtown, so I just left the house and looked for a view that I liked. It was the beginning of my urban sketching. In Prospekt I draw escalators, and I’ve chosen the signboard of HOUSE store, I'm afraid I will not be able to convey this awesome red, but I will remember it. I will go to the second floor, there are interesting children's zones there.”
