Special photos from Instagram - flat-lays - are called still-lives of the 21st century. At the master class of instabloger Alina Chubar at Prospekt shopping mall, Weekend tried to understand what layout is, why we need a grid in a camera, how accessories and backgrounds for holiday photos can be collected and which stores may become real décor Klondikes for flat-lay beginners.
Alyona talks about impressions and plans:
“It is interesting for me to master insta-photo for myself. Besides, I have a shop in Instagram, so I have to make beautiful pictures for my work. It was a useful workshop! I have long wanted to write a blog review about my favorite perfume, but I didn’t have a beautiful photo with a bottle. I had no idea how to make a flat-lay with perfume. Now, after I had a practice, I think everything will be ok. I plan to develop this skill in the future, I’ll buy additional decoration and train to make subject shooting.”
The fourth rule by Alina Chubar is light. «Of course, if you are an experienced photographer you know many secrets related to the arrangement of light and photoshop, but a starting flat-photographer first of all shall know how to use natural light. A window remains to be a favorite place of flat-photographers.
The best light is diffused light from a window. Oddly enough, a window layout in gloomy gray weather is perfect. There are no direct rays of sunlight, ugly dark shadows, which later should be edited. When days are bright and lighting is good, I can make a lay out at home on the floor next to the window or the balcony.»
