What's the point of watching cartoons?
11-04-2018

It's not a problem to watch a new cartoon today. Today, children have personal gadgets and a free access to the Internet, which makes it easy to choose videos according to genre - comedy, adventure, romantic, Japanese anime or innovative fantasy.
What's the point of watching cartoons? We asked this question to children in Prospekt shopping mall at the new animated film Peter Rabbit pre-first show.
•    When I watch a cartoon, I fantasize that I'm the main character too. And I want to win;
•    I like cartoons and then I draw characters;
•    I like to tell my mother about the adventures that I saw on screen;
•    I wonder what will happen next. The protagonist will surely be fooled and he will have to resolve the problems;
•    My friends and I often discuss cartoons - heroes whom they would like to become;
•    If the cartoon is funny - then it’s funny to me.
Children's answers pushed us to another idea - of course, it's useful to watch cartoons for the fantasy and interests' range development. However, at the same time, adults should not let this process run its course. It's best to watch it with your children and enjoy watching together.
"Going to the cinema with the child is an priceless time. Firstly, this is an event that you need to schedule, select a showtime and a cartoon itself. Secondly, the joint watching allows immersing yourself in a cartoon story, getting at the same level with your child. And most importantly - to discuss the impressions with him after watching the cartoon: what you liked, what surprised you, what you disagree with or how he would act, if he was the main character. In such moments, you can better know your child, advice and suggest. However, it shouldn't be done in an order form, but fascinatingly and in a friendly manner. In order that parents weren't only mentors, but also true friends, who understand their children, and don't look down on them. I'm also learning to be with my daughter on the same wavelength. And this helps us to understand each other more", - says Olena Obukhivska, the PR manager of Prospekt shopping mall.
The modern cartoons' characters are bright, more dynamic and with new meanings. They, of course, are not remembered as Karlsson or Cat Leopold. However, they aren't such unipolar – only good or only evil. They are different, as in a real life.
«Peter Rabbit» is purposeful, stubborn and he makes mistakes, but he take a new look at and corrects them.
«Hotel Transylvania» - the characters aren't scary at all and even quite good. They can be afraid, and also be surprised and be in a puzzle. And this is normal.
«Coco» - motivates not to lose heart, but to fight for your dream, even when everything is against you.
«Paddington» - in the most unpredictable and unpleasant situations teaches finding the strength to remain yourself. And kindness isn't a character weakness, but a proof of the spirit strength.
Perhaps someone perceives cartoon characters in another manner. And this is also a great topic to discuss with your children. And new cartoons in the cinema are a new occasion to plan leisure together.
