“Golden Lionet at Prospekt shopping mall”: why children should read magazines
02-10-2018

During the presentation of the Ukrainian children's magazine “Golden Lionet” in Prospekt shopping mall the star guests, together with shopping mall’s visitors, discussed why children should read magazines. In the absolute majority of the participants’ opinions, and these are moms, dads, grandmothers and grandfathers, the children's press plays a completely different role than books, games and films in a child’s development. “Children's magazine has a lot of themes — fairy tales, riddles, counting rhymes, coloring books, recipes, lessons of English, Spanish, etc. All this contributes to the fact that the kids learn switching to different, determine what they like more and choose the most interesting for them”, — said Maria Marchenko, a Teacher of History, who also joined the discussion. The Ukrainian singer Bozhena Dar, the editor-in-chief Liliia Gudz and the editor Alina Naduda presented a new issue of the magazine in Prospekt shopping mall. “I have two little daughters. And as a mother, I want to provide them with high-quality literature, filled with meaning and motivating ideas. Generally speaking, I would call our family’s principle of education as a quite democratic — children should be independent, be able to capture themselves with interesting ideas and not require special conditions. I mean that if a child wants to sleep, that does not mean that everything around should turn into a solid silence. The child will fall asleep even if there is music. However, our duty, as parents, is to instill love for our neighbors, to cultivate a sense of patriotism and pride of Ukrainian. Therefore, we freely look through the bright pages of the “Golden Lionet”, says the singer Bozhena Dar. Many personal stories of the “Golden Lionet” magazine publishers are associated with its creation. Liliia Gudz told about some of them: “We wanted to create bright and good characters, whom children love. These are dogs, kittens, various animals, who express their thoughts and communicate with the readers. We see our mission in giving interest to children in reading and learning, thinking and understanding, shaping their own taste and learning something new. There are two talented artists, who work at the magazine, one of whom lives in the ATO zone. We are grateful to her that, even in difficult life situations, her heroes are positive, reliable and merciful”, — Liliia Gudz shares about magazine. “Currently, we have already released seven issues of the magazine in Ukrainian. And also in foreign languages: English and French, which we sent to the centers of the Ukrainian diaspora abroad. The “Golden Lionet” can be purchased online and in the Ukrposhta offices for UAH 35, as well as to get an annual subscription. By the way, magazines are distributed to orphanages, boarding schools, families of ATO participants, low-income families and ATO's educational institutions for free. We do not seek to earn, but we strive supplying children with the opportunity to read genuine, high-quality Ukrainian literature at affordable prices. Our goal is to simplify delivery and to provide our small readers with bright impressions”, — commented Alina Naduda, the editor of the magazine. “We are pleased that the visitors came to the discussion and expressed their own ideas on how to motivate children to read more, to choose high-quality literature and to form their own style from childhood. And the Girls — both Bozhena Dar, Liliia Gudz and Alina Naduda surprised with their sincere patriotic position, with openness and enthusiasm to offer children something bright and original”, — adds Dariia Mykilska, the Brand Manager of Prospekt shopping mall. “We are glad to host creative people, who are ready to share with their creative ideas and present something new in Prospekt shopping mall. Therefore, we immediately agreed to hold a presentation of the magazine in our shopping mall. This is a new format for communication and exchange of opinions, where everyone reserves the right for personal position”, — summed up Olena Obukhivska, the PR Manager of Prospekt shopping mall. The small visitors to Prospekt shopping mall received the “Golden Lionet” as a gift. And now they have the opportunity to decide whether they like the magazine. And if they do like it — then order it online or subscribe and become its regular reader.
