Humanity stories from the weekend's heroines at Prospekt shopping mall.
On the third Birthday of the Weekend at Prospect, the magazine told the stories of socially passionate people who shared their actions in order to attract attention and possibly pass on the relay of kindness to others.
How Nina Saliy makes the country inclusive:
«I work at the library. And I got there quite accidentally. Inclusion brought me (this is the process of all people inclusion in society). Once, I had a big dream — to create an inclusive space where people would come, regardless of nationality, religion, gender, presence or absence of disability. I even started a business project and went to study how to implement my project. And at training I realized that my target audience is insolvent, no business will work out of it.

At the same time, I found the «Otsium 51» library where I currently work. It is updated, bright and quite modern. I thought the libraries were all closed because there was no need for them. Then I realized that the state has already cared: the spaces I dreamed of have already been created. These are libraries — public places where you can come with any request — communicative, artistic, cultural. So, I started inclusive activities at «Otsium». Later I was invited to work there. I was afraid that it would take a long time to get people to the library for various activities. However, it took only six months to do this. There are five other colleagues, who work in this library besides me. However, even such a small team can handle and do important things. This is real.

If we talk about inclusiveness in the country as a whole, we cannot but notice that the value of a person is increasing. We are ready to accept otherness; we can feel comfortable with it. We even have a law on inclusive education. Another matter is outside the law. How often do we see people with disabilities in cafes, parks, streets? How often do we see ramps, Braille plates?

I’ve been dealing with this issue for six years. In the beginning, everything was very sad. I used to come to government, business and say, “Let’s do something inclusive for everyone.” And they answered me: “Better get married, take care of your life.” Now the situation has changed: I am invited to state structures, asked to hold thematic trainings, how to interact, communicate, how to make ramps. I did one of the last trainings for my colleagues. We talked about the right terminology on it. This is important because it shapes our attitude, speaks of the people’s value. First of all, we see a person or a child, and then the presence or absence of any difference.»
