About the “edges of personal” in Prospekt shopping mall with culinary expert Yevhen Klopotenko
25-06-2018

If you combine two skills - cooking and writing you’ll get one of the most readable blogs about cooking from Yevhen Klopotenko. In his publications Yevhen shares with his readers recipes, ideas about project development in schools and impressions about places and countries he visited. Recently Yevhen told about Prospekt shopping mall - about tasty coffee, service in restaurants and general emotions. That was the reason why Olena Obukhivska, PR-manager of the shopping mall, appointed Yevhen a meeting in Prospekt shopping mall. They talked about the protest against ordinary things, when everything could be done in a different way, about spontaneity and transition into a new level, about revival of Ukrainian cuisine, and also about life hacks, increase of knowledge and ways to succeed.
“At school I was elected to the position of a class representative. Then I learned how to organize people. Besides, I always liked writing and cooking. Then I understood that if you mix usual ideas, you get innovative products created on a new level and giving new impressions. Then I started to make experiments. If you are tired of buckwheat cooked on water - cook it on tea. You will get an entirely different taste. If you go beyond the edges, then you can combine everything in your food. For example, food and music, food and psychology” - Yevhen says.
Culinary expert Klopotenko looks for inspiration in “boundary things”, which in most cases, have nothing to do with food. If you work hard, you’ll get impressions during your vacation. On the opposite, comeback to work generates new ideas.
Yevhen considers his participation in Master Chef show to be the strangest decision that has changed his life. “Sometimes it seems to us that we have a choice. But in fact, we do not accept decisions which are unacceptable for us. We can’t do something in a different way, because our subconscious has already solved everything. We just act because we want it. In general, I believe that the most correct choice is the 3D format: do, do, do. It is better to do something twice, than to think once. If you do something, you gain experience, and get new impressions.”
Yevhen can’t stand two things in the kitchen - depression and girls: “I really do not like to see girls in the kitchen. Girls have to rest and to enjoy their beauty; a kitchen is the right place for a man. It seems to me that I always could cook and each time I mixed new food products. It is my nature to protest against ordinary things. When I was a child and my mother went to work, I cooked an omelet adding into it everything that was in the fridge and enjoying the process.
That’s why, I do not like depression in the kitchen - it is a place where one can violate borders. If you are tired of a usual salad made of tomatoes and cucumbers - change its taste, adding sour tomatoes, strawberry with mint, or orange with lavender”. Food is the sense of Yevhen Klopotenko’s life. Moreover, this talented chef sets himself the global goal of making Ukrainian cuisine a trend. “I want our national food to be loved all over the world. We have a million of Ukrainian dishes that were once conserved in a cryo-chamber. Now we just need to take these “embryos” and to release them. Then Ukrainian restaurants will appear all over the world. After all, Ukrainian borsch can become as popular as Caesar salad.
“I couldn't understand whether Yevhen Klopotenko is an introvert or an extrovert. However, I made sure that he is a special person. Yevhen admitted that everything he is doing is done perfectly. When he is reading he plunges into the world of a book, when he is cooking he centers around the world of gastronomy. And when he is talking about his project, he brings his interlocutor into his world: with powerful energy and beliefs. I also visited Yevhen Klopotenko’s world and became his admirer.
That’s why now I cook tomato salad with strawberries and basil, and add mint to potatoes. I am happy when strong and positive professionals reach the success. And I also want everything that has Ukrainian origin to be revived in modern trends. Indeed, our authentic heritage is unique and it is worth being known around the world”, - Olena Obukhivska, PR manager of Prospekt shopping mall resumes the meeting with Yevhen Klopotenko.
