About the heyday of the Ukrainian baroque – offline teaser in Prospekt shopping mall
11-01-2022

On January 16, Prospekt shopping mall will host an aristocratic performance in the Ukrainian baroque style. The main idea is to show our contemporaries what our noble ancestors were like, their manners, outfits and tastes.
This is the period of the 17th and 18th centuries, a time of raising the national spirit, hoping for the restoration of statehood and defending the maximum autonomy of Ukrainian lands between the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and Great Russia.
Kyiv ladies then walked in elegant dresses with trains and high wigs, and men – in camisoles. The existing then fashion of the Ukrainian gentry was as stylish and trendy as among the Western European nobles. The outfit was modeled from expensive cloth, silk, velvet, decorated with embroidery, gold or silver braid, decorated with original buttons.
Anna Horozhenko, a journalist, author of historical novels and host of the YouTube channel "Obrii podii", as well as the initiator of the historical reconstruction project "history with taste", is currently engaged in popularizing baroque Ukraine.  Actually, Prospekt shopping mall will host an offline teaser about the idea and unique information about what Kyiv and the Hetmanate were like. "Now we are preparing an interesting TV project about baroque Ukraine with a series of episodes about the life of the Hetmanate and the real stories of its inhabitants. Prospekt shopping mall will have a certain prologue to the music of viola da gamba, a demonstration of the existing then aristocratic fashion, counterdance and curtsey. I am sure that Ukrainians should know more about the cultural heritage of our ancestors, which today remains out of sight. An offline performance in a shopping mall is a great opportunity to convey the spirit of the Ukrainian baroque era to the general public," said Anna Horozhenko.
"It is a great honor for our team to recreate baroque style in our Prospekt social space and contribute to the "History with taste" of cultural engagement, so that the offline teaser adds happytite (happy + appetite) that is, arouses interest in learning more about the continuity of refined Ukrainian style and urban culture, which was in the trend of the existing then Western European nobility," added Olena Obukhivska, Communications Director of Prospekt shopping mall.
The theme of the performance is unique and original. Therefore, it will definitely be interesting for historians, history teachers, students, and anyone who is interested in Ukrainian history, culture, fashion, music, who is proud and appreciates the Ukrainian heritage.
The event will start at 16:00.
