Easter and the preparation for it shows that it is not about things, but about the meaning we give them. You can think about what eggs should be: homemade or from the supermarket, painted with onion husks or artificial dye. But even more important is how a person feels when they turn them into painted Easter eggs. What they think at this moment: about how a large family will finally gather at one table, about the long-awaited arrival of warmth, about being in general.
You can follow the recipe for Easter: make it from wheat flour or gluten-free, simple or covered with icing. Much more important is what it symbolizes for the person who prepares it: connection with previous generations, opportunity to be involved in a community of like-minded people, opportunity to try yourself as a creator, desire to arrange a holiday for others.
Different things can become special at Easter: basket with which I went to bless Easter Paska as a child, beautiful tablecloth that covers the festive table, paints for painting Easter eggs etc. The most important thing is your vision of the sacred.
